WELCOME TO KAIRE
“Citizenship should not be a determining factor in whether you deserve a living wage, health care or human rights.” - Brenda (KAIRE Lead)
OUR STORY
Originally established in August 2020, we are a grassroots organization exposing the inhumane conditions of labor, immigration, and other policies through community organizing. As well as members of KAIRE, we are a part of a couple of collective groups focused on bringing social justice, such as the Kitsap Equity, Race and Community Engagement Coalition (ERACE) and the International Migrants Alliance (IMA).
The Kitsap ERACE coalition works totally with Black and Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) in boosting interconnected race equity work and organizing thriving communities for profound, accountable, and liberatory institutional change. IMA is a global alliance of grassroots organizations made up of migrants, refugees and displaced peoples dedicated to ending forced migration. Together in this integrated community of activists, KAIRE encompasses the major pillars of our mission: storytelling, unity, immigrant leadership, justice, collectivism, and collaboration. Over the course of the past year we have (and continue to) work on campaigns such as working to help im/migrant farm workers who been neglected protection in the workplace, since the beginning of the pandemic. Our initiative for that was through a fundraising campaign, which has veeen collecting donations of Protective Personal Equipment (PPE) and/or gas cards to provide for Kitsap County migrant workers who we are working with directly.
